Do You Know The Meaning Behind The Five Olympic Rings And It's Motto ?

The Olympic symbol widely known throughout the world as the Olympic rings. Which is the visual representation of olympism for billions of people. The design was first created by Pierre De Coubertin. The Olympics rings remain a global representation of the Olympic Movement and its activity.
▪︎ The Olympic symbol comprises five rings of five different colours. Which is Blue, Yellow, Black, Green and Red. The ring symbolise the union of the five continents, the participation of athletes at this games and express the activity of the Olympic Movement.
The five rings represented the five participating continents of the time : Africa, Asia, America, Europe and Oceania. While the colours of the five rings together with the white background of the flag could compose the colours of every nation's flag at the time of it's inception as the official Olympic Symbol in 1914.
The first ever Olympic flag was presented to the International Olympic Committee ( IOC ) at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium. This flag was lost after the 1920 games and replaced for the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris and that same flag flew over the Summer Olympics Games until 1988 when it was retired.
In 1997, the original 'Antwerp Flag ' was discovered in Hal Prieste's suitcase and returned to the IOC in a ceremony at the 2000 Sydney Olympics by a 103 years old Prieste.
These five rings represents five part of the world now won over to the cause of olympism and ready to accept its fecund rivalries. What is more, the six colours thus combined reproduce those of all nations without exceptions. The five linked rings symbolize the unity and solidarity.

▪︎ What is the motto of Olympic ?
The original Olympic motto is made up of three Latin words : Citius - Altius - Fortius. These words mean Faster - Higher - Stronger. On the 20th of July 2021, the Session of the International Olympic Committee approved a change in the Olympic motto that recognises the unifying power of sport and the importance of solidarity. The change adds the word “together” after an en dash to “Faster, Higher, Stronger”. The new Olympic motto now reads in Latin “Citius, Altius, Fortius - Communiter” and “Faster, Higher, Stronger - Together” in English.
The Olympic motto expresses the aspirations of the Olympic Movement not only in its athletic and technical sense but also from a moral and educational perspective.

The Olympic Games today are the only event in our world which manages to really bring the entire world together.
