SPRINTING
One of the most ancient athletic track events Which was first introduced at the modern Olympics in 1896. This track events involves over a short fixed distance in a quicker time. They are the oldest running competitions being recorded at the Ancient Olympic Games. Usually sprint events in track and field consists of 100m, 200m and 400m race through 60m dashes are also held on Occasions. The original Olympic event, the stadion race was sprint of around 180m.
100m race is one of the most historical races along with marathon. In this track event athletes starts from blocks set in staggered positions and run in lanes.
GYMNASTICS.
Gymnastics has been around for thousands of years as a sport and a form of exercise. It is thought to have began in ancient Greece about 2500 years ago where it was used in training to keep fit for sporting activities. It was started in Greece before being recreated in Germany. Ancient Greece used gymnastics as a way to prepare for war. The first modern Olympic gymnastics competition was in 1896. Before 1928 women's gymnastics was not allowed to compete. The gymnasts have to be at least 16 to participate in Olympic games. Olympic gymnastics consisted of events such as rope climbing, high jumping, running and horizontal ladder. There are several different kinds of gymnastics which includes : Trampoline, Tumbling and Aerobic Gymnastics. There are 8 different events in artistic gymnastics : Vault, Uneven Bars, Horizontal Bars, Rings, Pommel Horse, Floor Exercise and Balance Beam. Gymnastics is now part of summer Olympics which are held every 4 years.
SWIMMING.
Swimming activity has been around for thousands of years. Swimming originates from the first humans who had to swim in order to find food and avoid starvation. However, swimming as a sports didn't begin until the 1800's. Athletic swimming is believed to have started in Britain. The National Swimming Society was formed around then and they held races in indoor swimming pools around Britain. In 1896, the first ever modern Olympics were held in Athens, Greece. Swimming was featured as one of the Sports at these Olympics and stayed an Olympics sports ever since. Swimming is the propulsion of the body through Water by combined arm and legs motions and the natural flotation of body.
JAVELIN THROW.
Javelin has been an indicator of physical strength and fitness since the mid- 1900s. Beginning as a weapon used for hunting. Javelin has since made its way to the Olympic Games and thousands of athletes all around the world train hard for this sport.
The thrower gains momentum by running within a predetermined area. It is one of the track and field events held at the summer Olympics alongside events such as shotput, discus and hammer. Javelin has recently gained Popularity in South Asia and the 2021 Olympic gold medal winner was from India.
BOXING.
The Greeks consider boxing the most injurious of their sports. The earliest evidences of a form of boxing can be seen in Sumerian carvings from the 3rd and 2and millennia. The earliest evidence of boxing rules date back to Ancient Greece, where boxing was established as an Olympic game in 688 BC.
